Parts and supplies

A new battery assembly matched to the exact model and connector. Use the specified replacement adhesives and protective materials.

Compare the exact model and part number before installation. Confirm all required screws, adhesive, tape, foam and fixtures in the complete procedure.

Exact-model documentation

Before you begin

Choose Apple menu → About This Mac and confirm the model, chip and screen size. For Intel 2020 MacBook Pro, also match the two-port or four-port version. A similar enclosure does not establish parts compatibility.

Battery and workspace precautions

Follow the discharge instruction in stage 1 before opening. A swollen, punctured, dented or unusually hot battery needs specialist handling. Do not bend, heat or force it. Protect your eyes, prevent accidental startup and disconnect power before adjusting any internal connection.

Battery safety and workspace setup

Keep the battery attached to its tray. If an adhesive strip cannot be recovered, stop and follow the manual’s alternative service instructions; do not force the battery out.

Repair sequence

Work through these stages with the complete illustrated procedure open. It contains the detailed screw map, torque values, connector directions and reassembly order for this model.

Open the complete illustrated procedure
  1. Confirm the part and prepare

Discharge the battery fully, following the exact-model safety procedure, before opening. Back up your files, shut down, unplug all cables and work on a clean, ESD-safe surface.

  2. Open the bottom and isolate power

Keep the lid closed while removing the bottom-cover screws and releasing its clips. Disconnect the battery power and data connections in the illustrated order before touching internal cables. Map every screw to its location.

  3. Complete the access steps

With power isolated, remove the connector covers shown in the photos. Keep their screws and any reusable insulating material organized.

  4. Release the battery assembly

Move the trackpad flex clear. Remove four tray screws and stretch-release all four battery adhesive strips. Handle the tray edges; slide its battery flex clear without bending the cells or cable.

  5. Position and secure the replacement

Apply fresh adhesive and align the battery with its flex-cable alignment tool. Keep cables clear. Activate adhesive with the model-specific roller procedure. Refit tray screws to their specified torque.

  6. Reassemble and complete the repair

Restore all removed parts, covers and cable routes in the full procedure’s reassembly order. Reconnect battery power only at the specified stage, inspect for loose hardware, close the bottom and complete the checks below.
