iPhone 15 Pro Charge Port Replacement

This is the hardest repair on the iPhone 15 Pro. Before you start, clean lint out of the port with a wooden toothpick and try another cable and charger; most charging problems aren’t the port.

  • Nylon spudger and ESD-safe tweezers
  • Isopropyl alcohol (90%+) and lint-free wipes
  • A USB-C cable (for lining up the new port)

Advanced repair. Dozens of small screws of different lengths come out. Keep every screw in order on a magnetic mat; a long screw in the wrong hole can damage the logic board.
Before you start: run the battery down below 25%. Less charge means much less stored energy if the cell is damaged. If the battery is swollen, dented or punctured at any point, stop and bring the phone to a shop.

Take it apart and replace the port

  1. Open the screen and disconnect the battery

Follow our screen guide for this model to open the display and unplug the battery cable first, then set the display aside.

  2. Remove the battery

Remove the bottom speaker and Taptic Engine and pull the three adhesive strips as in our battery guide. Lift the battery out.

  3. Free the USB-C port cable

The USB-C port is a separate part along the bottom of the frame. Disconnect its cable from the logic board and remove the screws and brackets holding the port and its cable. Keep each screw in order; they are different lengths.

  4. Remove the port

Peel the port cable off the frame where it’s stuck down and lift the port assembly out.

  5. Fit the new port

Plug a USB-C cable into the port from the outside (not connected to power) to line the new port up with the opening, press its cable onto the frame and reinstall the screws, keeping the driver low near the opening.

  6. Rebuild and test

Fit a new battery, refit the Taptic Engine and speaker, reconnect the display and battery and close with fresh adhesive. Test charging, data, the bottom speaker, microphones and vibration.

Not charging? Let us look first.

Most iPhone 15 Pro charging problems are lint or a bad cable. We’ll test it free at our Tustin store and replace the port the same day if needed.
