iPhone 14 Charge Port Replacement

This is an advanced repair on the iPhone 14: the battery and the parts at the bottom of the phone come out to reach the Lightning port. Before you start, clean lint out of the port with a wooden toothpick and try another cable; most charging problems aren’t the port.

Advanced repair. Keep every screw in order on a magnetic mat; a long screw in the wrong hole can damage the logic board.
Before you start: run the battery down below 25%. Less charge means much less stored energy if the cell is damaged. If the battery is swollen, dented or punctured at any point, stop and bring the phone to a shop.

Take it apart and replace the port

  1. Open the back and disconnect the battery

Follow our back glass guide to open the back and unplug the battery cable first, then the back glass cable.

  2. Remove the battery

Remove the rear camera and pull the two battery strips as in our battery guide, then lift the battery out.

  3. Free the charging port cable

The Lightning port, the bottom microphones and their cable are one part that runs along the bottom of the frame. Unplug its cable from the logic board and remove the screws and brackets holding the port. Keep every screw in order; they are different lengths.

  4. Remove the port

Peel the port cable off the frame where it’s stuck down and lift the port assembly out.

  5. Fit the new port

Set the new port in place, line it up with the opening (a Lightning cable plugged in from outside, not connected to power, helps), press the cable onto the frame and reinstall the screws and brackets.

  6. Rebuild and test

Fit a new battery, refit everything you removed, reconnect the cables with the battery last and close with fresh adhesive. Test charging, data, both bottom microphones (voice memo and a call) and the speaker.

Not charging? Let us look first.

Most iPhone 14 charging problems are lint or a bad cable. We’ll test it free at our Tustin store and replace the port the same day if needed.
