Parts and supplies

Confirm the replacement part and the source's complete supply list for your exact model and Wi-Fi or cellular variant before starting.

Display adhesive is normally replaced after opening. Follow the source's requirements for screws, tape, foam and calibration.

Before you begin

Confirm the model in Settings → General → About and match the screen size and Wi-Fi or cellular version. A similar-looking iPad can have different cables, screws and replacement parts.

Battery and glass precautions

Back up your data and disconnect all accessories. Follow the selected source's discharge and power-isolation instructions before opening. A swollen, dented, punctured or unusually hot battery needs specialist handling; do not heat, bend or pry it. Protect your eyes from broken glass. Power down before adjusting an internal connection.

Repair sequence

Use the linked Apple illustrations alongside the sequence below. They specify the screw map, tool settings, cable routing and adhesive placement. The complete removal and reassembly procedure opens on Apple Support.

  1. Open and support the display

Complete the linked display removal procedure with the iPad powered off and unplugged. Keep all removed screws mapped to their original positions.

  2. Expose the port

Remove the three screws from the port and its cowling. Save the cowling.

  3. Disconnect and remove

Disconnect the USB-C flex. On cellular units, carefully free the antenna cables and slide the port flex out from beneath them. Peel the flex adhesive and lift the port out.

  4. Prepare the replacement

Clean residual adhesive from the enclosure, keeping solvent off antenna cables. Fit the new port gasket and the variant-specific foam or tapes shown in the manual. Route the flex under the cellular antenna cables.

  5. Secure and connect

Install the two specified port screws with the black 0.35 kgf·cm driver and JCIS bit. Adhere and reconnect the flex. Fit the remaining foam/tape and refasten the cowling.

  6. Close and test

Complete display reassembly with new adhesive, then test charging and data in both plug orientations.
