Battery and glass precautions

Back up your data and disconnect all accessories. Follow the selected source's discharge and power-isolation instructions before opening. A swollen, dented, punctured or unusually hot battery needs specialist handling; do not heat, bend or pry it. Protect your eyes from broken glass. Power down before adjusting an internal connection.

The selected procedure below contains the detailed illustrated steps, including removal, reassembly notes and model-variant differences. Choose the matching Wi-Fi/cellular version and component before starting.

The photos and full walkthrough below update together.

  1. Match the procedure and part

iPad (9th generation) uses Lightning. Confirm the exact generation, screen size and connectivity variant. The front digitizer and LCD are separate parts; select the damaged component below.

  2. Prepare and open

Back up the iPad, unplug it, power it off and follow the source’s battery-discharge requirement. Read the entire illustrated procedure before cutting adhesive. Keep cables supported and all screws organized.

  3. Complete the illustrated replacement

Follow the selected display procedure in order. Observe every isolation, adhesive and connector caution in the source. Stop when the hardware or cable layout does not match the selected variant.

  4. Reassemble

Follow the source’s reverse-order instructions and special reassembly notes. Fit fresh specified adhesive, restore all shields/grounds and inspect for loose screws and trapped cables. Do not force a display that will not sit flush.

  5. Verify the repair

Complete the checklist below. If a function fails, power down before inspecting a connection. Do not continue charging a device that becomes abnormally hot.
